With Trump's Iran war, he has voted again and again against letting Congress end it — including the September 24 vote that failed by one.
The House passed a resolution ordering U.S. forces out of the Iran war in July. The Senate finally voted on it September 24 and it failed 49-50. Fourteen senators on our report cards voted no — including Jon Husted, who said two days earlier the war 'needs to come to an end as quickly as possible.'
They're deleting Trump from their websites, calling for an end to his Iran war, and telling him his immigration crackdown went too far. Every one of them who was in Congress voted for Trump's budget bill, and every House member among them voted for $70 billion more for ICE.
On April 16 a war powers resolution failed 213-214. On May 14 the next one deadlocked 212-212, and a tie fails. Either one needed exactly one Republican to switch. Only Thomas Massie, who has no page here, voted yes both times.
Begich cheered DOGE on X and told Alaskans in February 2025 that he wanted to make sure 'Alaska's interests are protected.' Alaska's own Labor Department now reports the state ended 2025 with 1,607 fewer federal jobs than a year earlier, a 10.5% drop, including 755 at the Defense Department and 180 in the Forest Service.
On September 16 the House passed the PROOF Act, 217-207. It orders states to turn over whatever Medicaid, SNAP and other benefit records Attorney General Todd Blanche asks for in writing, with no judge involved. A federal court had already blocked the Trump administration from cutting food stamp funding to states that refused to hand over recipient data. 185 of the members who voted yes have report cards on this site.
On September 15 the House voted 220-204 to end the war with Iran — the third time since June. Republicans voted 203 to 7 against it, and 180 of the members who voted no are on our report cards. The same day, the Congressional Budget Office put the war's direct cost at $38.1 billion and said it will push inflation higher into 2027.
