It reopened for 43 days, closed again, and surrendered its license. Joyce's one documented action was a letter to the Attorney General — seven weeks before he voted for the law taking $33 billion of Medicaid out of Ohio.
In July 2025 Capito voted for the budget bill that guts Medicaid — a 50–50 vote she could have stopped. Seven WV rural hospitals are now named at risk. On July 29, 2026, she cosponsored legislation to prevent rural hospital closures.
At an April 2025 telephone town hall closed to media questions, Fry called Medicaid vital and then said too many people are on it. He then voted twice for the cuts. SC-07 is projected to lose more health coverage than any other district in South Carolina, and an advocacy group's tally puts average ACA premiums in the state up 235%.
