Subverted Democracy to Kill Climate Action

We pay legislators to show up, debate, and vote — win or lose. Christine Drazan had a different idea: when she couldn't win the vote, she shut down the Legislature itself.

In February 2020, as House Republican Leader, Drazan led House Republicans out of the Capitol, denying the chamber the two-thirds quorum Oregon's constitution requires. That killed the bill to cap Oregon's greenhouse gas emissions — and held up bills on homelessness, wildfire preparedness and flood relief along with it. OPB reported the 2020 session collapsed "without a single meaningful bill reaching the governor's desk."
The walkout wasn't a one-off act of conscience. It "solidified her reputation with members of the business lobby, who had backed her rise to Republican leader hoping to see just this kind of solidarity with their clientele" — OPB's words, not ours.
And it wasn't just the one bill. The Oregon League of Conservation Voters scores her environmental record at a lifetime 13%. Of the 17 bills it tracked in the 2021 session she voted the anti-environment way on 12, including 100% Clean Energy for All, the Recycling Modernization Act, the Toxics Free Kids Act, and electric vehicle incentives — and in 2025, back as House Republican Leader, she scored a flat 0%, voting against the environment on every one of the nine scored bills she was present for.

When Christine Drazan couldn't win a vote on climate, she made sure nobody could vote at all. We deserve better.

Blamed Oregon When Trump Sent In Troops, and Wants to Hand the State to ICE

Whether white, black, or brown, we should all be able to live in Oregon and exercise our constitutional rights without fear that law enforcement will turn on us.

But the current administration has created a masked, unaccountable immigration force that national security officials told ProPublica has become "an unfettered and unaccountable national police force" — one that has held more than 170 U.S. citizens against their will. When President Trump sent federal troops into Portland, Christine Drazan's response was to attack Oregon's own leaders.

On September 27, 2025 — the day Trump announced the deployment — Drazan issued a statement calling Governor Kotek's "assertion that there is no national security threat" and Portland's mayor's "assertion that everything is fine" "tone-deaf", and saying it was "shameful that state and local leaders have allowed violent mobs and domestic terrorists to assault federal law enforcement, destroy property, and interfere with those seeking immigration services from obtaining assistance and case management." Her closing line: "We need order, we need to restore safety, and Oregon's local leaders have failed to provide it."
As governor, she says, she would make local law enforcement cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. "Oregon's sanctuary state status is off the rails," she told the Statesman Journal in May 2026. "It is not a sane approach to public safety in our state."

Christine Drazan would put Oregon's police at the service of an out-of-control federal force — and when Trump sent troops into Portland, the people she blamed were Oregon's own. We deserve better.

Celebrated the End of Roe and Promised Vetoes on Abortion Rights

Decisions about pregnancy should be made by a woman, her family, and her doctor — not by politicians. Oregonians overwhelmingly support that principle. Christine Drazan doesn't.

When the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Drazan greeted the news with a two-word tweet: "Life wins!"
She considers Oregon's abortion laws "extreme" — and has said that as governor she would veto legislation that would "push Oregon further outside the mainstream."
Oregon Right to Life, the state's pre-eminent anti-abortion group, endorsed her — and was blunt about why. "We're always looking at what is our best opportunity to move the ball," its executive director told OPB. "Clearly one of our best chances this cycle is this governor's race."

A governor's veto pen is exactly how abortion protections die in a blue state. Christine Drazan has already told us she'd use it. We deserve better.

Is Bankrolled by a Billionaire and the National Party Machine

Who pays for a campaign tells you who a politician will answer to. Christine Drazan's last run for governor took in $22 million. Here is where it came from.

Her single biggest backer wasn't a person or an Oregon business — it was the Republican Governors Association, at $7,161,926, nearly a third of everything she raised.
On October 6, 2022, Nike co-founder Phil Knight — "Oregon's richest man" — donated $1 million to her campaign, switching sides after already spending $3.75 million propping up unaffiliated candidate Betsy Johnson.
Nineteen days later he wrote her another $500,000 check — $1.5 million from a single billionaire.
Rounding out her top donors: the Oregon Republican Party, timber outfits Swanson Group and Murphy Plywood at $600,000 and $500,000, the National Association of Realtors, the Associated General Contractors, and the American Hospital Association.

Christine Drazan answers to a national party committee, a billionaire, and the industries that want a friend in Mahonia Hall — not to us. We deserve better.

Targets Transgender Kids to Score Political Points

Every Oregon kid deserves the chance to grow up without being turned into a political football. Christine Drazan has made targeting transgender students a signature issue.

On February 5, 2025 — the same day President Trump signed his executive order on transgender athletes — Drazan introduced Oregon LC 3895, to ban transgender athletes from girls' sports in the state's K-12 schools.
She made clear whose agenda she was following: "I want to thank President Trump for taking executive action to protect women's rights and fair competition in women's sports. I urge our state to take similar action to protect women and comply with Title IX."

Christine Drazan is importing Trump's culture war into Oregon's schools. We deserve better.

Opposed Oregon's Gun Safety Law a Month After a Mass Shooting

On August 28, 2022, a gunman walked into a supermarket in Bend, Oregon and fired more than 100 rounds, killing two people before killing himself. A month later, the three candidates for governor met for a debate in Bend itself, and were asked about Measure 114 — a ballot initiative requiring a permit to buy a gun.

Drazan said she opposed it — a measure the Associated Press described as "one of the strictest gun-control measures in the nation." Asked about the shooting in the town she was standing in, she said: "more gun laws will not prevent every single tragedy from happening."
That position had a constituency. Drazan ran as "a candidate with a stellar rating from the National Rifle Association" — and acknowledged she might use her authority as governor to retool Oregon's "red flag" law, which lets courts take guns from people found to be a danger to themselves or others.

Two Oregonians were shot dead in a Bend supermarket, and a month later Christine Drazan stood in that same town and said gun laws wouldn't have helped. We deserve better.
