Stands With Trump's Agenda That Cut Health Care for Texans

We all deserve access to quality, affordable healthcare so we can live healthy and productive lives. But Brandon Herrera has built his campaign around backing President Trump and his agenda — and that agenda stripped health coverage from millions of Americans, including tens of thousands of Texans right here in the 23rd district.

Herrera has made full support for President Trump the centerpiece of his platform, and says he has backed Trump since 2016. That agenda — driven by Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson — included the One Big Beautiful Bill, which cut health care for 17 million Americans, among them nearly 12 million Medicaid beneficiaries. More than 4.4 million Texans count on Medicaid for their health insurance, and more than 41,000 people in TX-23 were at risk of losing their coverage.

A vote for Brandon Herrera is a vote to take health care away from Texans. We deserve better.

Backs Policies That Hurt Texas Seniors

Texas seniors worked their whole lives for the Medicare and Social Security they count on today. Brandon Herrera backs the agenda that put both at risk.

The Trump-Johnson agenda triggered nearly $500 billion in Medicare cuts unless Congress acts to stop them. More than 4.7 million Texans depend on Medicare for their health coverage.
Trump's DOGE brought longer wait times and website crashes and mass layoffs at Social Security offices, making it harder for Texas seniors to get the benefits they earned. Closer to home, San Antonio businesses lost an estimated $375 million in federal contracts to DOGE cuts, and Texas lost at least five Veterans' Affairs contracts.

Brandon Herrera is on the wrong side of Texas seniors. We deserve better.

Backs the Largest SNAP Cuts in History

No family should have to skip meals to make ends meet. Yet Brandon Herrera backs the agenda that made the largest cut to food assistance in history — even as more than 31,000 of the people he hopes to represent in TX-23 rely on SNAP to put groceries on the table.

Backing President Trump's agenda is one of Herrera's top priorities. But Trump and Johnson were behind the single largest cut to SNAP in history — $186 billion slashed from food assistance. More than 31,000 Texans in TX-23 rely on that program to afford groceries.

Brandon Herrera would take food off the table for thousands of families in his own district. We deserve better.

Backs an Agenda That Raises Prices on Texans

In America, a hard day's work should be enough to afford the basics. Instead, Trump's tariffs are slowing job growth and driving up prices across Texas — and Brandon Herrera has pledged to stand with the president behind them.

Support for Trump is at the core of Herrera's platform. To protect the president's tariffs, Speaker Johnson moved to block any congressional pushback, using procedural maneuvers to keep House Republicans from challenging duties that were slowing job growth and raising prices for Texas businesses and the people they serve. Economists pegged the tariffs at roughly a $1,000 tax increase on the average American household.

Brandon Herrera would be one more vote for the tariffs making everyday life more expensive in Texas. We deserve better.

Wants to Defund Texas Public Schools

Every Texas kid deserves a good school, no matter their zip code. Brandon Herrera wants to gut the federal funding that helps make that possible.

Herrera has said he wants to defund the Department of Education, and even argued the country should get out of funding public education entirely. In 2024 alone, that department sent Texas more than $3.9 billion — money that helped teach Texas students English and kept rural Texas schools open.

Brandon Herrera would pull the funding that keeps Texas classrooms running. We deserve better.

Filmed Tasteless Troll Videos at Uvalde

Nineteen children and two teachers were killed at Robb Elementary in Uvalde. Three months later, Brandon Herrera went there to film himself testing a robot dog rigged with an assault weapon — and he wants to abolish the very agency that helped investigate the massacre.

Three months after the Uvalde shooting, Herrera joined a fellow YouTube creator to film a video in Uvalde featuring an assault weapon strapped to a robotic dog — including filming the robot walking in front of a Uvalde school bus and testing it on cartoon cutouts of children. 19 elementary school students and two teachers were killed in the Uvalde shooting.
One of Herrera's key policy concerns was to eliminate the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) — the government agency that helped investigate the Uvalde shooting.
Herrera also celebrated the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse by drinking a cocktail he called "The Rittenhouse" — a chaser followed by three shots.

Brandon Herrera exploited the Uvalde tragedy for content and wants to eliminate the agency that investigated it. We deserve better.

Is an Internet Troll Who Has Been Called a Goose-Stepping Extremist and a Nazi

Members of his own party have called Brandon Herrera a "goose-stepping extremist." He has joked about Nazi weapons, mocked veteran suicide, and reenacted the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. This is not the conduct of someone fit to hold office.

Herrera is known for joking that a Nazi machine gun was "the original ghetto blaster" and "Hitler street sweeper," and previously played Nazi marching songs in a video about Nazi guns. He also boasted about owning a 1939 copy of "Mein Kampf." In 2024, the Republican Jewish Coalition denounced him as a "goose-stepping extremist."
Herrera made a "joke" about veteran suicide on a podcast — saying "I often think about putting a gun in my mouth so, I'm basically an honorary veteran." Texas Republicans including Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks criticized his comment.
Herrera made a video reenacting the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and promoted it on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2024. He also reenacted the assassinations or attempted assassinations of Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan.
Herrera sent voters a campaign mailer with side-by-side images of himself and Trump edited to look as if the two had posed together — falsely implying an endorsement at a time when Trump had actually backed his primary opponent, Rep. Tony Gonzales. A lawyer for Trump sent Herrera a cease-and-desist letter ordering him to stop using the president's image, warning it was "likely to confuse voters." Herrera became the Republican nominee only after Gonzales dropped out of the race amid an affair scandal, after which Trump switched his endorsement to Herrera.

Brandon Herrera's conduct is disqualifying for someone seeking public office. We deserve better.

Is Illegally Hiding His Campaign Spending

Voters deserve to know who is funding the people who want to represent them. Brandon Herrera's campaign has repeatedly been accused of hiding exactly that.

In May 2026, the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center filed an FEC complaint alleging that Herrera's campaign, his leadership PAC, and his joint fundraising committee illegally concealed the true recipients of more than $2.7 million by routing nearly all of their spending through a single firm, Texas Strategy Group, that the complaint says "does not appear to be a bona fide commercial vendor."
The FEC has separately questioned a $50,000 loan Herrera made to his own campaign — even though he reported earning roughly $84,000 the prior year — along with missing employer and occupation details for his donors.
His campaign treasurer, Thomas Datwyler, has paid more than $20,000 in fines over alleged campaign finance violations and was scrutinized for his ties to the campaign of expelled Rep. George Santos.

A candidate who won't say where his money goes hasn't earned the public's trust. We deserve better.
