H.Res. 1490 passed 220-192. It changes no law and spends no money. Jim Baird has a doctorate, two Purdue degrees, a seat on the Science Committee and a co-chairmanship of the R&D Caucus. Purdue is in his district. When Washington started cancelling research grants, he called it long overdue — and in April 2026 he celebrated the shutdown of the USDA's flagship research center because Purdue picked up a piece of it.
