A Russian-Born Ballroom Donor Got a Fast Pass Around Russia Sanctions and a $201 Million Federal Fund. His Money Also Went to Ten Republicans on This Site.
Konstantin Sokolov gave to Trump's White House ballroom days before his company asked Treasury for a license to get around Russia sanctions. He got it in 10 weeks, used it to buy a copper mine from a sanctioned Russian bank, and was put in charge of $201 million in State Department money. FEC records show he also gave to committees raising money for Susan Collins, Pete Ricketts, Dan Sullivan, Vivek Ramaswamy and six more Republicans on this site.
